2C20.10 • Bernoulli Force: Bernoulli Tubes

Instructions / Notes:

• Turn on the air valve under the bench.

Concepts Conveyed:

• Air passes through wide (outer) and then narrow (inner) pieces of the top of the glass tube. At the narrower piece, the air flows at a higher velocity than the wider pieces.
• Bernoulli's Principle: the higher the velocity, the lower the pressure.
• This can be seen by the column of water in the middle rising.

Demo Staff Instructions:

• Connect the demonstration to an air valve under the lecture bench.
